Drip
& drip hex plates
The drip shape gives the plate a drip-effect lower edge — a small change that makes the whole front or rear end look custom. Drip hex combines it with the shorter hex outline. Available on every finish except bubble.
Drip adds £25 to a pair (£30 for drip hex) and £10 to a single (£15 for drip hex). Made to BS AU 145e, posted UK-wide.

What are drip and drip hex number plates?
Drip plates are standard-size plates with a drip-effect lower edge, and drip hex plates combine that edge with the shorter hex outline. The drip edge adds £25 to a pair (£30 for drip hex) and £10 to a single (£15 for drip hex) on top of any finish except bubble — so a 4D drip pair is £75 and a 4D drip hex pair £80. They're road legal, made to BS AU 145e with the supplier details on every plate.
- Drip +£25 on a pair · drip hex +£30
- Singles: drip +£10 · drip hex +£15
- Available on every finish except bubble

What is the drip shape?
A drip plate is cut with a drip-effect edge along the bottom of the plate, as if the plate is melting. It's a shape change, not a finish — you pick your finish (3D gel, 4D, 4D gel, ghost, retro or negative) and then choose the drip outline.
Drip hex does the same on the shorter hex-shaped plate, which suits 5, 6 and 7 character registrations particularly well.
- Drip-effect lower edge
- Drip hex = hex outline + drip edge
- Every finish except bubble
- Road legal on the standard finish
What does the drip edge cost?
The drip edge is a fixed addition on top of the finish price: +£25 on a pair and +£10 on a single for the drip shape, or +£30 on a pair and +£15 on a single for drip hex. A standard drip pair is £60, a 4D drip pair £75, and a 4D ghost matte drip hex pair £110.
The order form calculates the total live as you pick the finish and shape, so there's nothing to work out yourself.
- Drip: +£25 pair · +£10 single
- Drip hex: +£30 pair · +£15 single
- Example: 4D drip pair £75
- Example: ghost matte drip hex pair £110
The legal bit, in plain English
Characters on plates fitted after 1 September 2021 must be a single shade of black (BS AU 145e), in the correct font and spacing, on a reflective white (front) or yellow (rear) base. GOV.UK has the full rules.
Every road-legal plate we make carries our supplier name and postcode and the BS AU 145e mark, and we check your ID and proof of entitlement before making it — as every DVLA Registered Number Plate Supplier must.
Show-plate versions
A drip or drip hex plate made with a tinted or faded finish is a show plate for off-road display only — car shows, static displays, photoshoots and private land. Pick the tinted or faded option in the order form and the document checks are skipped; the plate will be labelled for display use.
How much do plates cost?
All prices per pair, paid in full at order — there is no deposit on plates. Royal Mail signed-for postage is added at checkout and we deliver anywhere in the UK.
Road-legal or show plate?
Number plates made since September 2021 must comply with BS AU 145e. 3D and 4D raised characters can be road-legal provided the plate meets that standard — the mandated font and character height, correct spacing, the right colour and reflectivity, the supplier details and BS AU 145e marking, and nothing that misrepresents the registration.
Novelty and show plates that don't meet the standard are for off-road display use only. They must not be fitted to a vehicle used on the road. Tick the show-plate option at checkout if that's what you want and we'll skip the document checks.
What documents do you need?
Road-legal plates must be supplied by a DVLA Registered Number Plate Supplier, and the supplier has to see proof of your identity and proof of your entitlement to the registration mark before making the plates. You upload both as part of the order:
- Proof of identity — driving licence, or a passport with a recent utility/council tax bill
- Proof of entitlement — V5C log book, new keeper slip, V750/V778 retention certificate, or a lease/hire agreement
How does UK delivery work?
Plates are made in 1–2 working days and posted by Royal Mail signed-for, anywhere in the UK — you get a tracking number by text when they leave us. Everything is ordered online, so you don't need to be anywhere near our Dagenham workshop.
Plates are packed in rigid protective packaging with the fixing kit included. If you'd rather collect, that's still an option — but posting is the default for national orders.
Common questions.
Are drip plates road legal?
Yes — the drip edge is a shape change and doesn't affect compliance. The characters stay a single shade of black in the correct font and spacing on a reflective base, with supplier details and the BS AU 145e mark. Tinted or faded drip plates are show-only.
How much do drip plates cost?
The drip edge adds £25 to a pair (£30 for drip hex) and £10 to a single (£15 for drip hex) on top of the finish price. A standard drip pair is £60 and a 4D drip hex pair is £80. Postage is added at checkout.
Can I get a bubble drip plate?
No — bubble 3D gel is normal oblong shape only. Every other finish (3D gel, 4D, 4D gel, ghost, retro, negative) is available as drip or drip hex.
Will a drip plate fit my car?
Drip plates are the same overall size as standard plates, so they fit standard plate mounts and holders. Drip hex plates are shorter, like hex and short plates — check your bumper or holder suits a shorter plate before ordering.
